A healthy smile goes a long way! Mighty Mouth is an oral health program designed to encourage proper hygiene habits among Upper Elementary/Middle School students. Through the use of models, displays and exhibits, participants will be reminded of the importance of healthy teeth along with a brief review of sets, types, and parts of teeth. Through demonstrations, participants will practice proper techniques for brushing, flossing and rinsing, along with a reminder to maintain dental visits twice a year and consideration for preventive/protective measures including healthy foods/drinks for teeth.

Huffin' 'N' Puffin'

Children and teenagers are faced with decisions related to their health every day, and as they get older the pressures they face about those decisions by their peers increases. In particular, substance abuse of high concern for this age group includes inhalant abuse (also known as huffing) and nicotine-related products. The main emphasis of Huffin' 'n' Puffin' is to highlight the healthy function of the nervous and respiratory systems as well as explain (in an age-appropriate manner) the dangerous effects of these substances on our body systems. Through engaging interactive participation and the use of multimedia, students are introduced to the importance of making informed decisions to remain drug-free throughout their lifetime.

It is not uncommon for people to be shocked by the amount of sugar in a variety of food and drink items. The Sugar Shockers - Students program is designed for older adolescent (high school) students to help them understand the importance of limiting added sugar intake. Students will be made aware of the different types of sugar, other names for sugar on nutrition fact labels, and daily recommendations for added sugar intake. Focus will be placed on ways to reduce sugar intake and the possible health risks associated with excessive intake.

Swimming with the Sharks - Students focuses on the importance of healthy communication and social interactions, with an emphasis on assertive communication. Bullying hurts everyone involved, and the Bullying Hurts program is designed to help students understand that bullying behaviors are those done specifically, intentionally, and repeatedly to be hurtful to others.
