Webcasting with the Byrnes Health Education Center

If you can’t make it to the Byrnes Health Education Center, we are able to come to you virtually through our Webcasting delivery platform.  Webcasting allows us to deliver a program to your students live in your classroom, giving your children the opportunity to interact with the educator like they were right in the room!*

In Her Shoes
Character Education/Bullying for Girls (Grades 6-8)
This unique character education program combines media and music to address female relational aggression.  Topics include cyber-bullying, sexting, and how to rise above difficult social situations encountered in middle school.  The program focuses on the importance of empathy and respect and what to do when encountering gossip, exclusion and betrayal.

Transformation Information
Puberty (Grades 4-6)
Unfolds the physical, social, and emotional changes associated with puberty.  The focus is on the natural changes the body goes through during adolescence.  Emphasizes individual development and good health habits.

5 Men Up
Character Education/Bullying for Boys (Grades 6-8)
This program examines how society defines masculinity.  Using media, music and class interaction, students will learn to recognize aggression and bullying.  The program will create awareness and students will be given the skills needed to break the cycle and feel empowered to create change in this environment.

AIDS & The Immune System
Grades 6-12
Addresses the intricacies of the immune system, including its response to pathogens, specifically HIV and HIV transmission are discussed, with a strong emphasis on prevention.

NHES: 1, 3, 5, 6

AIDS: What Kids Need to Know
Grades 4-6
Addresses the myths, concerns, and fears participants have about this disease.  The program discusses the healthy immune system as well as changes that occur when the system is exposed to the HIV virus.  Students learn the ways in which HIV is transmitted and the difficulty of contracting this virus.

Huffin’ ‘n’ Puffin’
Tobacco/Drug Education (Grades 4-6)
Focuses on the dangers of tobacco and inhalants as gateway drugs.  Animated models show the impact drugs have on the respiratory and nervous systems.

NHES: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6

Cells to Systems
Body Systems (Grades 4-6)
Leads students on a journey through the cells and systems of the body.  Two body systems are emphasized; choose from circulatory/respiratory or skeletal/muscular systems.

Healthy Hearts

Physical Fitness (Grades 4-6)
Explores how the body benefits from exercise.  Students learn how exercise strengthens the heart, muscles, and body systems. Through active student participation, components of physical fitness are explored.

Just Fueling Around
Nutrition (Grades 4-6)
Explores healthy food choices by answering basic nutrition questions in a fun and innovative way.  Students easily see that “we are what we eat.”

Organ Tales
Organs/Drug Education (Grades 3-4)
Allows participants to discover important facts about the organs of the body.  The effects of caffeine, alcohol and tobacco on the organs are emphasized.

Decay? No Way!

Dental Hygiene (Grades 1-3)
Demonstrates how to care for your teeth and gums using proper dental hygiene and by eating healthy snacks.  Our giant mouth model, Dentina, helps students learn how to prevent cavities.
